This holiday season don’t let one of those be your headline. You can reduce your chances of becoming a victim of crime if you practice a few safety tips.

  • Park in well-lit areas.

  • Do not leave packages in plain view when you have them in your vehicle.
  • When buying items, buy in small amounts so you are not carrying a lot of packages at once.
  • Always lock you car doors, even when you are driving.
  • Have your keys ready before you get to your vehicle.
  • Always have your purse on your person, do not leave in a shopping cart.
  • When going out of town for more then a day utilize the Greenhills vacation house check program.
  • Turn off Christmas tree lights when leaving the house.
  • Do not leave burning candles unattended.
  • Make sure Christmas gifts that are under the tree and not visible from the outside.
  • Keep your doors locked, even when you are home, as you never know who might just walk in.
  • When leaving home turn on outside and inside lights. Don’t always leave the same inside lights on.
  • Never give out your personal information over the phone.
  • If it seems to good to be true, it usually is.
